keyholes from FMJ Brown Bear ammo

I believe that the round in the M16 and the AK-47 didn't tumble 'in the air" but did on impact. Apparently the rounds were designed to be 'light" at the tip which meant that if the round hit it's target at anything other than absolutely and perfectly straight on, the butt end of the round ...

ammo for home protection?

papabear, Great to hear you came out of that unfortunate situation ahead! I won't shoot anyone unless they make me do it, PERIOD!!! Damn the dirtbag that makes me do it, but I will not hesitate. WOW that 357 mag is one hot load! Imagine where it would be if it didn't have to go through a knee and hi...

ammo for home protection?

kurremkarm,

Great link, thanks for posting. I does support my conclusion that JHP in a 9x18 round for defence is questionable at best.

ammo for home protection?

Very interesting discussion. I choose FMJ in the 9x18 round for the following reasons: Overpenetration is often emphasized by those that prefer shallow-penetrating "rapid energy transfer" bullets. Tests have shown that human skin, on the entry side, can resist penetration as much as 2"...

keyholes from FMJ Brown Bear ammo

On another website forum there was a poster that stated JHP ammo in 9x18 isn't necessary considerng that penetration is most important due to the sub-sonic velocity and that the 9x18 round tumbles on impact. If tumbling is a reality then this is one devestating round!

Best IWB holster (better fit: PPK or SigP230?)

I had the Galco IWB until I got the ClipDraw. After using the clipdraw once I retired my IWB and haven't used it again. The clipdraw completely changes your carry experience.

Switching to the P64

wrothgar, The P64 is a great carry piece, you'll love carrying it compared to the XD. Personally, I carry the FEG PA-63 because of the lightweight titanium/aluminum frame, slim profile and 7+1 capacity. The 9x18 round is plenty potent for everyday carry. For ease and comfort of carry I added the cli...

Where is everyone from?

Massachusetts (sigh). This state won't even allow us to purchase the gun that are made here!

P64 vs modern CCW

ENVY,

I like the question you pose. Today's modern pistols seem to be designed out of a block of wood and tend to be overly, and unnecessarily, bulky. My preference is the PA-63 with the ClipDraw for weight and comfort.

How to carry...

I carry a PA-63, 7+1 with safety on. But best of all I use the ClipDraw and retired my IWB holster.

my p-64 with hogue grip and clipdraw

big54r, The clip doesn't harm or scratch the gun at all, the 3M adhesive strips are extremely secure and are completely removable with no harm to the guns finish. The clip comes in two pieces; a flat base plate and the formed spring-steel clip. First you put the double sided 3M tape on the base plat...

Best IWB

Best IWB for me is the ClipDraw. I added it to my FEG PA-63 and completely changed my always carry experience. Haven't touched my IWB since!
