PA-63's are being sold now - Opinions?

I have one that I have carried extensively. It only weighs about a pound and fits perfectly in a Walther PP holster. Mine does very well with ball ammo and with Hornady HPs. I shot a perfect score with it in CCW qualifying. This gun is accurate! Zero malfunctions.

Recoil Spring Study

Today I did test fit the E.G. Makarov recoil spring on the P-64 barrel. Fits like it was made for it apart from being too long. The P-7 spring is huge in diameter by comparison. Heavier than standard Makarov recoil springs cut to length ought to be OK.

P-64 maybe problem?

Your P-64 is perfectly normal. Most semi auto pistols are designed to use the momentum of the slide to chamber a round and still have enough speed to move into full battery. If you ease the slide towards battery, the spring force alone ought not to be enough; so, the slide stops short of battery. Du...

Revealing my ignorance . . .

Because the main and recoil springs both oppose the motion of the slide, if the spring mass system was properly tuned and balanced to start with, it will not be after the main spring is replaced with one of lower rate. A slightly higher rate recoil spring should reestablish the correct blowback resp...

I use a Bianchi shoulder rig that was designed for PPK.

Revealing my ignorance . . .

The 9mm MAK bullet is slightly larger in diameter than 9 mm luger. So, barrels would be expected to be a bit larger in outside diameter for Makarovs as a rule. Seels to me that some other Makarov pistol or maybe an FEG PA-63 might have a donar recoil spring of the correct diameter. Has anybody looke...
