I have one that I have carried extensively. It only weighs about a pound and fits perfectly in a Walther PP holster. Mine does very well with ball ammo and with Hornady HPs. I shot a perfect score with it in CCW qualifying. This gun is accurate! Zero malfunctions.

Today I did test fit the E.G. Makarov recoil spring on the P-64 barrel. Fits like it was made for it apart from being too long. The P-7 spring is huge in diameter by comparison. Heavier than standard Makarov recoil springs cut to length ought to be OK.

The 9mm MAK bullet is slightly larger in diameter than 9 mm luger. So, barrels would be expected to be a bit larger in outside diameter for Makarovs as a rule.
