Re: Another way the P-64 can discharge w/o pulling the trigg

I'll add one more vote with the previous posters who advised against carrying with a round in the chamber. I'm aware that's probably a minority opinion, and that the very real trade-off might be lost seconds in an emergency situation. It's just a personal choice anyone who carries has to make. Glad ...

Re: Little help

Somewhat off topic, but still on the subject of things getting stuck in the chamber, a word of caution about plastic snap caps. I recently had a plastic 9mm snap cap (dummy round) split and get seriously jammed in the chamber of my Walther P1, and it took some major effort to extract it. Hopefully n...

Re: cleaning tool question

Good question. It may be for dislodging the mag spring from the notch for mag disassembly (the tip you're referring to fits the notch perfectly), but that's just a guess. Be interesting to see if anyone knows for sure.

Re: P 1964

The P64s are becoming scarcer for sure. I rarely see them in the gun shops anymore. Saw only one for sale at a large gun show this past weekend, and it was not in great shape (sorry Johnny C it was a 1969). I am debating whether to sign up @ J&G Sales just to have another one for a backup parts ...

Re: What can go wrong on these, what has broke on your p-64?

The trigger return spring in my 1970 round hammer busted first time I fired the gun. I replaced it with one of Norm's springs, since then I've fired maybe a hundred rounds with no further issues. Because of the parts shortage situation I don't shoot my P64s very often.

Re: Interesting Experience Today!

115grfmj Glad you and the P64 weren't injured. That woulda scared the bejeezus out of me. Made myself a couple of New Year's resolutions after reading this, 1) buy a better pair of shooting glasses and 2) don't assume a bullet always exits the barrel when my pistol goes bang - haven't had a squib ye...

Re: P64 price???????????

There were two P-64s for sale by two different vendors @ a large (800+ tables) gun show I visited this afternoon. One guy was asking $249 for his and the other one was asking $349. Both guns were round hammers and showed significant finish wear. Based on their appearance (the guns, not the vendors) ...

Good stuff pshootr, thanks.

I highly recommend "Poland" by James Michener for anyone interested in a comprehensive history (eight centuries including WWII) of that country.

Re: How much for a PA-63

"Sometimes you're sorry when you pass on something over a few bucks." Truer words were never spoken. I've made that mistake more than once, but I now know that if I overpay a few dollars for a gun it'll soon even out thanks to inflation, scarcity value etc. You could ask the shop if they'd...

Re: New Owner Decocker Question

No not normal. I'd seriously considering returning it, if possible, if a thorough cleaning doesn't resolve the problem. Returning to the seller for a refund or replacement can become problematic after a gun has been home-gunsmithed, polished, parts replaced etc.

Re: I wnet to a local gun show yesterday

I'm a gun show fan. The admission price is less than a movie ticket and they're usually more entertaining. I mostly go to look for quality mil-surps. Hardly ever see a P-64 but you never know: about a year ago a vendor had a stack of boxed ones with two magazines, holster and cleaning rod - one foll...

Re: I decided NOT to change the springs and why.

Stock springs on my P64s, I like the DA and SA trigger the way it was made. Left the original black plastic grip panels on too, although I did install a Hogue Handall Jr. on each gun.
