Re: Question about reassembly...
If you simply make up a dummy round and plug the primer hole with silicone sealant (and let it cure) then you have an almost indestructible snap cap. DaveN

Re: Bought some more stuff.
I have Lee progressives and single stage presses that are now over 20 years old and used for just about every calibre from 0.25 ACP to 0.455 Webley. As long sa you clean and lubricate them, no problems. have had to replace a few worn ratchets but I have lost count of the 1000s of rounds that I have ...

Re: Beretta Model 72(Jaguar?) 22lr
Jokingly I would say its weight in 22 LR cartridges! However, if it has the longer barrel (around 125 mm if memory serves me correctly) then around $300, but it depends upon the prospective purchaser. DaveN

Re: Snap-caps? Is 380 ACP ok?
A very simple trick is to take some fired cases, deprime (assuming that they are boxer) and then to put a dab of silicone caulk into the primer pocket. Let them set and then use them as snap caps. If really want to play, make some dummy rounds with lead heads and silicone primers. I use these for al...

Re: Weekend 9x18 sale at AIM
I have been reloading 9 x 18 for years, both lead and FMJs. I think the last commercial ammo I purchased was some S&B around 10 years ago and I thought that $10 for 50 was excessive. Picked up a 1000 9 x 18 cases from Starline rather than go through the hassle of reworking 9 Luger, and as long a...

Re: Are we ever gonna get 9x18 ammo?
I have been reloading 9 x 18 for years ever since my East German Makarov purchase over 15 years ago. Starline Brass, lead or FMJ heads and they work very well in my Mak, two _64s and two CZ82s. I do not cost my time as if I did, then each round would be "gold-plated". I reload for a fair n...

Re: CZ52 or Tokarev (TT-33, Type 54, M57, etc)?
I have a couple of CZ52s and one Chinese TT. All go bang and the bullet goes where the gun is pointed. I also have a couple of C96s but never, never use the 7.62 x 25 from the Eastern Bloc with these pistols unless you want to rapidly have the gun separate into its component pieces. Although the 7.6...

Re: My new gun
I have two, one purchased before they became C&R, the other afterwards with my FFL03. Work like champs, either my reloads or any non-steel cased ammo I can find. I must agree however, that of the 9 x 18 Mks, the EG Makarovs are the best finished. DaveN

Re: Wheel gun guys - need advice
Yes the Singapore Police Force Webley is a nice one. If you compare it with the Webley Mk IV without the cross bolt safety, then you can see that although listed as a Mk IV, it is very close to the commercial Webley Mk III in 380/200, the "hump" at the rear of the frame is quite diagnostic...

Re: Old vs New (sporterising)
I agree with not "sporterizing". I have Moisins, Czs and P64s plus a modicum of other surplus firearms. Aside from cleaning them up, they stay as purchased. Every bump or scratch can tell a tale if it could speak. DaveN

Re: P64 strength
I only know of one blow-back 9x19 pistol that may still be around and that is the Astra 600. Or in its 9 x 21 sibling, the Astra 400. Both of these were designed to fire these rounds as blow-backs and the recoil springs are sized to fit, plus the guns are all steel. Fun guns to shoot but rather inti...

I have the PPK and PP in 0.32 and a PPK/S in 0.380. All are accurate but I agree the P64 is the one that I choose first. DaveN

I can thoroughly recommend Reeds Ammo. they have a whole slew of unusual loads (even when in stock, the non-existant 0.41 Special, with the correct head stamp from Starline). DaveN

Re: Why do I bother with modern subcompacts?
The only one of my manifold guns that does not fire every time is an old CZ50 and that is due to my playing around with the hammer spring in order to lighten the DA first shot. I will have to buy some new CZ50 springs and live with it. Nowhere near as bad as the unmodified P64s. Otherwise all of the...
