Re: Polish Tokarevs

I'm a bit late to the thread--in fact, I haven't posted in about two years--but I just got a Polish Tok from SOG. Maybe it was because I am half Polish, or maybe because of the cheap ammo. (Then again, maybe it had just been too long since I ordered a pistol.) Anyway, the point is that the tokarev p...

What does it cost to renew cc permit in your state

Better late than never . . .

In MN it depends on the county, but is not to exceed $100. 5 Yr. Permit.

Hornaday bullets

Sounds reasonable. I must have never encountered the oversize bullets, because I have never had a problem. Still, it seems odd unless he had old ammo.

Norm, did those .365 bullets refuse to chamber at all? It just seems strange to me.

Hornaday bullets

Hmmmm. I could see if the pistol didn't feed well or tended to jam, but if you can't get the ammo chambered, then there must be something else wrong. OK, this might be a little crazy, but did you check the head stamp? If you somehow got 9x19 ammo that was mislabeled, it would not chamber. I cannot s...

Hornaday bullets

darrell, Silly question, but . . . is the pistol broken in? My p-64 (x2) works great with hornady bullets, both out of the box and with handloads, but for the first few hundred rounds it was a bit finicky. You might want to wait before you make any hasty judgements. I think the hornady is great stuf...

MI Gun Owners Update on HB 4490

I'm no longer a resident of Michigan, but four of my handguns have been "inspected" there. I hold the law enforcement personnel in the highest regard, but I don't recall seeing anyone with gunsmithing expertise. It is pretty much a registration program under the guise of "safety,"...

Uneasy News

I subscribe to Rush's theory that this was a message, not an accident. Gee, how did those nuclear materials wind up in the belly of China? If that could happen, imagine what else we could overlook! (Of course, it could very well be incompetence rather than hard ball politics, but the coincidence see...

I guess I'm behind the times. Did S&W buy up Walther? I didn't even know.

P-64 range report

Amen, brothers!

Same old sermon, but true just the same. I love all of my firearms, but whenever I take out the p-64--especially after shooting something else first--I just have to say: "Sweet!"

Best pistol for the money--or at least it was when they were cheap and plentiful.

What I learned about my p-64 today . . .

Garry, Thanks for sharing that sobering lesson with the rest of us. The wise will learn to continually cultivate a healthy respect and fear of a firearm, even as we work to become very confortable and capable with it. Just one correction: You were not "God Damn" lucky, you were "God B...

What I learned about my p-64 today . . .

Michaelap,

I didn't misread--I am agreeing with you.

Blinddog and others,

Do what you feel comfortable with and be safe. I know that you make the choice thoughtfully and not carelessly. There is no flame here, I was just reflecting.

What I learned about my p-64 today . . .

michaelap, I guess that is pretty much my point. It's not that you couldn't carry with the safety off . . . but why do you want to? What is the advantage? I know that carry folk don't go juggling their hardware and are a pretty safe bunch, but accidents have a way of being unforeseen. Holsters can b...

What I learned about my p-64 today . . .

Nice one, carguy! I got a good chuckle out of that! Actually, the incident did get me to realize that if you are carrying, it is always possible to drop a pistol and have it fall hammer down. This got me to thinking about some of the guys who have posted about carrying with a round in the chamber an...
