Hammer-drop/double-action problem
The first P-64 I bought did this as well as one a friend bought just recently. After a good cleaning if it still does it file a little off the sharp corner of the disconnector on the bottom, where it contacts the trigger bar. It doesn't take much, just take off the sharp point on the corner that con...

Light serial numbers
Yesterday at a gun show I purchased a commercial Bakail Mak from a dealer. The finish is rough but mechanically the gun is in good shape and I got it for a pretty good price. My only concern is that the serial numbers are very light as is the importers mark. It was imported by B. West in Tucson and ...

P-64 Magazines?
supply and demand my friend. Keep in mind the reports of the p64's at J&G coming in with the original packing grease in them, ie, unissued. Oh, don't misunderstand me, I couldn't care less how they sell them. In fact, one of my P64's and most of my magazines came from J&G. The only reason I...

P-64 Magazines?
J&G Sales has factory mags for $20 each. And before someone else says it, I'll tell you that the reason they have these mags is because they bought a bunch of P-64's with two mags and are selling the guns with only one mag and selling the spare separately. I'll let you be the judge of the morali...

D/A issue
One of my two P-64's did this from the moment I bought it. It had been cleaned well but I disassembled it and cleaned it thoroughly but that didn't cure the problem. After looking at it carefully I decided the disconnector was slightly too long. Why this was never noticed before escapes me, but the ...

DAO conversion?
Thanks again Pshooter, for the timely and accurate advice. I'm going to take a look at the areas you mentioned later today. I loved the accuracy of the gun with the lighter pull, but the misfires are unacceptable, so hopefully smoothing it up will help with that, but I'll try a 20 pound spring if sm...

DAO conversion?
I put the factory hammer spring back in and shot it today. It functioned flawlessly. So now I know it works with the stock spring, which is 24 lbs according to Wolfe's site, but not with the 18 pound spring. I guess my only other option is the 20 lb spring....I wonder if that much of an increase is ...

DAO conversion?
Sorry not to have gotten back to this thread sooner, work reared it's ugly head. I shot my DAO P-64 this morning and the DAO operation works fine. There is NO marks whatsoever on the primers of the rounds under the hammer after firing. But, I'm back to getting light primer strikes. This was a proble...

DAO conversion?
Well I did the deed today. I first identified the full cock notch, then took 95% off with a belt sander, then took the rest off by hand with a 240 grit sandpaper and finished it up with 400. I noticed one thing after reassembling the gun for the final time and doing a function test. When I pull the ...

Modern coil springs aren't worn out by keeping them compressed, they're worn out by compression cycles. One cycle is compressing it and then letting it become uncompressed.

Thanks PshootR for posting. After looking closely at the P-64 I have to assume that with no full cock notch that the only thing preventing the gun from firing full auto once the full cock notch is gone is the hammer will not have the velocity to fire the second cartridge after riding the slide home....

DAO conversion?
Now that I've got two P-64's I'm seriously considering converting one to DAO if that's possible. There was a thread a while back, that I can't find again, where someone was talking about filing the full cock notch off the hammer to convert the pistol to DAO. Is this safe to do? Will it work properly...

P-64's and mags at jgsales.com NOW
I did go to the Phoenix gun show this weekend and I did pick up another P-64 from J&G while I was there. I had half talked myself out of it, but the one they handed me (when I finally got bellied up to their table) was, if I could have asked for something in particular, the exact one I was hopin...
