Re: Maybe You Can Answer These 2 Questions Please

The definition of insanity..........Re- assemble a P64. But at least you did it and now you know what the firing pin, spring, and other assorted parts look like and how they work. Did you also take out the ejector, those have copious globs of cosmoline or some other foreign material that appears to ...

Re: Maybe You Can Answer These 2 Questions Please

Yep, the firing pin spring can be a bugger. You need to use a set of hemostats or a thin set of needle nose with a heavy rubber band around the handles. With either of these you can push the firing pin way in then hold the firing pin with the makeshift hemostat. That frees up your hands for the dete...

Re: New Member Question

Did you remove the disconnector to clean it up? You may not have re-installed the spring back into the groove. You have to do that from the other side using a large paper clip as a drift.

Re: Maybe You Can Answer These 2 Questions Please

For the mag, slip a thin but long screwdriver through the slots on each side of mag near the bottom plate, hook fingers over the screwdriver and slightly depress the spring, the plate should then easily come off. Are you still holding the spring and have it compressed? Cup your other hand over the m...

Re: Interest in a new manufacture safety?

Its kinda like the safety, we all know machined parts are expensive when done in a small quantity. I would go about 25.00 tops for a new firing pin. I only paid 165.00 for the handgun. If they can produce a usable part for that, I'm in.

Re: Interest in a new manufacture safety?

I would be interested. How much would to much be? I payed 165.00 for a P64. Forty percent would be 66.00. Don't think I would go that high. I would probably sell the handgun for parts. I have been contemplating buying a second P64 just to have in the event one breaks. Maybe 25.00? I don't have a clu...

Re: Chambering a round

Check it out at the range first as doubletap has suggested. DON'T try and de-cock by holding the hammer with your freehand and pulling the trigger. That practice can get ugly real quick. The problem with pulling the trigger and suppressing the hammer is that you might get away with this for awhile t...

Re: What do you use to clean and lube you pistols with?

Good question. I use a variety of things, Hoppes, RemOil (my favorite), CLP, Hoppes Gun Oil. I still use Hoppes #9 for the barrel. Just love the smell. A good question is to wonder what preservative a Mosin-Nagant 91/30 has on it? I vote for Elmers Glue (non-hardening) I do use lubriplate for all sl...

Re: I got shot by my P64 yesterday...

Glad your feeling better. Interesting stuff about the de-cocker and safety. I played with mine and don't see that the firing pin would be struck with the safety off and the hammer already dropped BUT I am not hitting with the same force yours had by dropping on the floor. The gun seems very well bui...

Re: I got shot by my P64 yesterday...

I checked my P64 last night and it would seem there is an obstruction blocking movement of the hammer when the hammer is in the de-cocked position. With the trigger pulled after a dry fire and maintaining the trigger in the most rear position the hammer then has movement forward and can strike the f...

GEEEEEEZ, Your lucky it was only the arm. Thanks for posting and don't be embarrassed. Hope you begin to feel better as soon as possible. If that hollow point had hit bone that would have been a very bad thing for your arm. Just can't believe how lucky you are. Take care of yourself and heal quick.

I will shoot about any I find in 9x18 just slinging lead and none seems to bad. Found some old Hornady in JH at a gun show use it as mt SD load. Need to saving brass from the 9's around. My Makrovs, P-64's and cz 82 all seem to eat it all ok. Yep, same here, I have several Makarov's, had a CZ82, PA...

Re: New Member and P-64 Owner Saying Hello

Good deal. My opinion is that its a great little ccw. Not much for a lot of range shooting. I usually practice with mine then go get something that doesn't recoil quite as much. About fifty rounds and I have had enough of the P64. In spite of small sights it always shoots straight. Real nice afforda...
