one more thing. before i decide to return the pistol , i want to look it all over for signs of abuse. what should i look for specificly to be worn or damaged ? thanks

ive got a m44 also , bought it a few years ago at the gun shop next to my house for 120. i take it hunting and its a great rifle.

Wow. Sorry for your disappointment. It is certainly typical for a new p-64 to jam a bit as you are first breaking it in--especially if they are heavier hollowpoints, but that is a fundamental piece of the pistol to break off.
