What age?
Well, I probably haven been a dad longer than you, but I've already started the education part. My daughters are 5 and 3 years old. My oldest will be 6 on St. Patrick's Day, and my youngest will be 4 on June 10th. They both know we've got guns, and know they are dangerous. I often go over 2 basic ru...

firing pin rotating
I got my replacement firing pin and spring installed. My old spring was a few mm shorter than the new, and there is a DEFINITE difference in the 2 pins. The bad one is sort of rounded on one side, and that allows it to rotate. Perhaps quality control was slack and they had different production runs....

1974 P-64 'First shoot'
I took my P-64 to the range yesterday and shot it for the first time. As I expected my hairline crack busted through and my safety cracked in half, but I was able to get about 40 rounds through it before then. My ammo order hasnt come in yet, so I paid $18.99 for a box of Winchester (white box) >:(....

I'm 35, grew up a Navy brat (we were stationed in Rota, Spain when those F111s bombed 'ol Khadafi for the Locherbie terror incident, funny how the 'War on Terror' started with 9-11 for some folks), worked as a mechanic/parts guy in college, but didn't finish. Currently an IT merc (worthless contract...

I'm glad no one got hurt with your unexpected discharge. I've heard horror stories and seen nasty pics of injuries from unexpected discharges. It just goes to show you why we should always keep 'em pointed downrange or at the badguys when they are loaded!! Scary shit!!

Barak Obama's add
Let me preface this by saying I normally DO NOT think like this. I'd like to think I'm a regular guy who doesnt see conspiracy at the drop of a hat BUT..... I have to say I was pretty scared by it. The graphic of him to the far left (FAR LEFT?!?!?) of the ad had a subliminal halo effect. It reminded...

firing pin rotating
Tyler, I want to add that when replicating the problem with my slide off today I noticed that when you have this condition, and you try to move the safety, the pin SLIDES FORWARD INTO THE CHAMBER a bit under the pressure. Luckily I havent had this condition with a round chambered, but I wanted to wa...

firing pin rotating
I agree Tyler. My issue isnt a worn plunger or spring. The safety clicks solid on my pistol, and doesnt have an issue causing it to 'drop' from fire to safe. The issue is actually the opposite. its the pin 'L' rotating down out of the safety slot, and thus blocking the safety from disengaging. I've ...

firing pin rotating
I've got the same problem with my P-64 I just picked up last week. Only my pin rotates when I check the chamber about 15-20% of the time. Since the firing pin "L" hooks right, if I hold the pistol in my left hand, and point the ejection port down (thus the "L" is pointing down) i...
